What is Twitter?
Launched in March 2006, As of December 2012, there were more than 100 million users in the United States, 500 million worldwide. The Twitter concept evolved out of a brainstorming session that took place at the top of a slide on a San Francisco playground. The company’s logo, a little blue bird, is officially named Larry, after Larry Bird, the former player for the Boston Celtics. Users post 750 tweets per second.
Twitter is an online social networking and micro blogging service that enables users to send and read short 140-character text messages, called “tweets”. Registered users can read and post tweets, but unregistered users can only read them.
The best way to use twitter is to think of it as a large cocktail party. Listen to what people are talking about and become part of the conversation. Search for relevant terms. If you sell cars, search for people talking about cars and offer up relevant information that is helpful. Don’t try to sell them, just educate them. Eventually you will get known as a person that knows about cars and this will help build you as an authority. So many companies sell, sell, sell. If you listen and educate, they will eventually want to purchase a car and you stand a much better chance than the guys who keeps trying to sell them. I could write an entire EBook on Twitter alone.
Hopefully this helps you to understand what is Twitter.
